If you want to learn more about the Slow Food Movement visit the International Website and see how it all began and why. Since its conception it has grown and n0w has with more than one million supporters across 160+ countries.
In Australia it is represented in 4 states and the Northern Territory.
Slow Food Noosa first began in Pomona in 2003 with five members, in 2007 Matt Golinski was the President and initiated the Slow Food Noosa School Garden Project. It has grown significantly since then but is still run by a committee of dedicated volunteers who give their time freely to make a positive difference in their community.
In 2017, the group launched Australia’s first ‘Snail of Approval’ program to recognise local leaders of the global Slow Food philosophy of ‘good, clean and fair’ food.

Saturday 2nd November 2024 at Amamoor Village Green, food fun and entertainment in this family event. This launch event is a little “Taste” of GourMay Mary Valley Food Festival 2025, a celebration of the people who grow, produce and create, the food we eat. Enjoy the range and diversity of our region.

Film with Food – November 2024
Sunday 17th November. Join us for an evening of quality food and cinema in one of the Noosa regions most charming and rustic settings at the beautiful Majestic Theatre in Pomona. Doors & bar open at 4pm, movie starts at 5pm with 3 course dinner featuring locally sourced produce served at 6pm. Great food, good company and entertainment, the perfect ingredients or a fun night out.
Cooloola Farm Trail 2024
11th & 12th August 2024. A unique self-guided journey through some of the region’s most dedicated and passionate farms and producers. Spanning two days, this immersive experience will highlight the rich agricultural diversity and sustainable practices that define the Cooloola region. Meet local producers and farmers on the land where your fresh local produce comes from.
Rise and Shine with Slow Food Breakfast
Monday 5 August 2024 – The breakfast event will include Slow Food Noosa farmers and producers promoting their produce and events. Meet the Terra Madre Salone del Gusto delegates at a breakfast at Mary Valley Rattler, 10 Tozer Street, Gympie, starts 9am. See attacced menu and how to book. $25 per person for members. Ticket price includes one main meal selection.
Holistic Management with Brian Wehlburg
Session 1 – Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th June 2024, then July, August & September. We are absolutely thrilled to be welcoming back to the Valley. Holistic Management educator Brian Wehlburg. Holistic Management is a potentially life changing course that gets to the heart of your decision making process. 8 day course held over 4 months, 2 days at a time.
Film with Food
23 July 2024 – 6pm – 10:30pm – Majestic Theatre Pomona. A three course French dinner, created by 3 gourmet chefs will be served throughout the evening. This gourmet romance will be shown at the Majestic Theatre, located in the historic town of Pomona. The Majestic is a heritage listed theatre with an old-world charm and still shows silent movies.
Off Grid Expo 2024
3rd & 4th August 2024 at The Gympie Showgrounds. OFF GRID means many different things to many different people. For some it may mean disconnecting from public utilities, for others it is choosing to live in a self-sufficient manner. Join us for a weekend exploring the lifestyle choices of off grid living in all its forms. Solar and other energy solutions, latest technology and homesteading ideas.
