News from Slow Food International

When we get news from our international Slow Food Foundation we will share it here

Dear Friend,

Happy New Year from all of us!

At Slow Food, 2025 started with a simple resolution: to hear your voice and get to know you better. We prepared a short survey. By answering, you will help us send you a newsletter that meets your needs and interests. We can’t wait to hear from you! Thank you for your help.

Together, we can make 2025 a year to remember—for our planet, our food systems, and each other.

Warm Wishes,

The Slow Food Team

What’s on the Horizon for 2025?Discover the global priorities for our movement in 2025 directly from our president, Edward Mukiibi, who shared his insights during a heartfelt conversation about the direction of Slow Food. As Edie celebrates his third anniversary leading the international movement, 2025 will be crucial for ensuring both consistency in our actions and tangible impact. We spoke with him to gain a deeper understanding of his policy and strategy for the year ahead.

Measuring Impact, Growing a Global Movement, Bringing Positive Change

How does Slow Food drive change? Through a grassroots network united by the vision of good, clean, and fair food. This year, with Catalys, we surveyed local groups across five continents, highlighting the strength of our diverse global community. From Africa’s growing alliances to Europe’s traditions and Asia’s agricultural innovations, Slow Food shows that collective action can challenge even the biggest players in the food system.

Stories of Communities in Uganda and Their Role in Preserving Their Deep Connection with Nature and Food Sovereignty

This article from the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo explores how agroecology reconnects us with nature, communities, and traditions. During a journey through Uganda, visits to the Ankole Long-Horned Cattle Presidium and Joy and Family Demonstration Farm revealed inspiring efforts to preserve local food systems, empower farmers, and safeguard cultural identity through agroecological practices and seed conservation. These initiatives highlight the resilience of communities dedicated to creating a sustainable future.

As we step into 2025 together, we send warm wishes for the months ahead. Wherever you are, and whenever your new year begins, we hope this moment brings renewed energy and inspiration for the important work we share.

Recent events, particularly the worsening climate crisis and the outcomes of the latest COP on climate, remind us of the critical role we play in addressing global challenges. Despite urgent calls for action, governments fell short of delivering the commitments needed. This failure only reinforces the importance of our collective efforts. Our food systems are both part of the challenge and a powerful part of the solution. The Slow Food movement’s commitment to good, clean, and fair food has never been more relevant or essential.

Your passion, commitment, and collective action keep our global movement strong. Together, we will continue to nurture local food communities, advocate for sustainable practices, and build resilient food systems that respect people and the planet.

We’re also proud to see the growth of Slow Food Farms, strengthening our network and demonstrating the power of agroecology. Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited to announce upcoming continental Terra Madre events in Asia, Europe and the America, as well as impactful campaigns designed to rally even more individuals into our movement. These initiatives, deeply interconnected with Slow Food Farms, will weave together our shared vision and amplify our impact.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s make this year one of impactful change and solidarity.

With gratitude,
